Personalized Cards

So I started on some custom cards for friends and family. The first card is Hayley's baby shower card. Her and her boyfriend David will be welcoming Olivia Jo very soon!
I started with a patterned paper background that reminded me of a quilted blanket stitched together. I hand cut the bottle from free-hand stencils, tied a pink gingham ribbon through the bottle and defined the 'milk' with 3-dimensional paint and Glossy accents. Finished it off with an 'It's a Girl' sticker from my stash that tied together with the ribbon on the bottle. Congratulations Hayley and David (the inside is customized too!)

My next card has an extremely different vibe, but equally personal :)
My boyfriend's cousin celebrated her 26th birthday downtown partying at Club Dirty.
She has tattoos, loves to party, social butterfly. I thought this sexy silhouette was the perfect idea! I also hand cut the stencil for this card :)  I used some jewelry thread to make little panty strings!

Cardabilities birthday bash Final Challenge

Karan's right, this month has just blown by. Christmas always leaves me in a frenzy then three weeks later follows my daughter's birthday. But if I can say anything for the year so far, I at least have been keeping up on my crafting! Now for my second post of the day..(my earlier post will be continued!) I fell in love with this sketch the moment I saw it and knew just what I'd use for the large scalloped image. Follow along at http://cardabilities.blogspot.com/. Here's the sketch:
I thought the shape of my chipboard flower was perfect and the layering really works with the layers in the sketch..
I loved the sketch so much, in fact, I did two cards (in record time, might I add) The second card turned out pretty cute. I took the opportunity to use loads of layered prints to compensate for the simplicity of the sketch.
Here's a closer look at the papers I chose and the chipboard owl sticker I used from the same set as the flower above. I absolutely love the softness of the all the colors and the variety of mattes and metallics. Hope you enjoy! Happy Crafting :)

Card Positioning Systems challenge..

Working on another mini paperbag album and I was inspired by the cps challenge for my front cover. http://cardpositioningsystems.blogspot.com/ My album is still under construction, as I will be turning it into a unisex baby brag book. I just wanted to hurry and post what I had for the blog! to be continued..

Welcome Baby card

As always I enjoyed following along at Cardpatterns this week. The sketches always inspire me and I almost always end up with a pretty wonderful end result! They've started out the new year with a few new ladies on the design team, check them out here: http://cardpatterns.blogspot.com/2011/01/sketch-98.html
Here is this week's sketch:

And my take on the sketch:

I used one of my favorite new papers from the DCWV super 7 stack. The shade of blue is so pretty and I love the aged look it has. I hand stamped a blue elephant and layered him on top of a hand cut blue circle and centered him on a white doily. I replaced the flower in the sketch with a little blue bow and a vellum sentiment which reads 'so sweet'. I stamped six blue dots and layered them with my new favorite Glossy Accents for depth. I went through and put a few more glossy accents on the shaded areas of the elephant. Perfect for welcoming a new baby! Hope you love it!

Showing My Spirit! quack..quack..

This week I followed along with two blogs again (second week in a row!) the first being at http://cupcakecraftchallenges.blogspot.com/2011/01/cupcake-124-something-new.html where the challenge is to create something new. I also used this great sketch (below) from http://cardpatterns.blogspot.com/2011/01/sketch-97.html Pop over to these sites and follow along..I always can turn to them for some great inspiration :)
So, here's my take on the sketch. I chose to use a rounded square instead of a circle for the center because I felt it tied into the shape of my card better. I also rounded all edges of the card. This works for the Cupcake challenge because not only did I just go out and buy these papers last week, but this is a first for Oregon. Our Ducks made it to the National Championship and played a pretty close game.
My boyfriend inspired this card. After I came home from the craft store to show him all of my new goodies (which you know he LOVES so much, hehe) he told me he liked this paper the best because it reminded him of the Oregon Duck symbol. So when I saw this sketch for Cardpatterns I knew this would be the perfect fit! Hope you enjoy and happy crafting!

First Card Challenge of 2011

I participated in two blogs this week and it was my first attempt at a double challenge. The first challenge is a card sketch from http://cardabilities.blogspot.com/2011/01/january-5th-sketch-challenge-and.html (sketch above) and the second was a color theme challenge from http://cupcakecraftchallenges.blogspot.com/2011/01/cupcake-123-white-is-white.html where we were asked to make a predominantly white card..which really ended up being quite the challenge!

I used a white doily for the background shape, glued some black and white damask ribbon to solid white ribbon, used a large black heart to represent the larger rectangular shape, and an I love you sticker with a few rhinestones for the smaller rectangle. I finished it off with three varied sizes of puffy heart embellishments.
I originally made this card(below) with family being the theme and hints of yellow in it, but after sleeping on it I felt like I need to make a new one. I like the simplicity of the second black and white valentine I did best.(above)
The photo of this card has been altered to a B&W image because I didn't like my use of yellow in it originally

Mini PaperBag Albums! (Lunchsack size)

What better way to start the new year than with a card sketch? I followed along at http://www.cardabilities.blogspot.com/ and I'm looking forward to the BlogHop they are hosting next week! Go check them out for inspiration! Here is their sketch:
And here is my take on the sketch! I transformed mine into a mini lunchsack album (below)
I was more than excited to use some of my new papers from the DCVW super 7 stack I found 50% off yesterday at JoAnn's. I pieced together the scalloped border and stamped two green circles and topped them with green rhinestones. Overall I love the color theme of this album.
I dont own a scalloped circle punch so I opted for just a circle, but used my glossy accents to border the circle with dots to mock the scallops. I used a Laugh rub-on transfer that I thought complimented everything perfectly! (above) For my first mini album of the year, I really love how it turned out! Now to get started on the inside and then start working on more themes for other albums..Happy Crafting!!
