Ending the Holiday season..with Cards!!

I used up some leftover snowman paper to create a trio...
I love how this one (above) has the feel of a polaroid picture
I love this stamp for the holiday because the 'season' in the phrase resembles my own handwriting so much!
And here they are all in a row; my little Snowman Trio set
to put inside my recycled licorice container that I decorated with foam glitter stars, 3-D puffy paint and a striped red and green paper
I hand made this little candy cane with red foam and white puffy paint
And finished it off in the center with my hand drawn KatieMade(c) logo!
Now I have a place to store all the christmas cards I make when I get inspiration throughout the year :D

My Business Cards are Here!

I've been busy, as I'm sure most of us are for the holidays, but I was so excited to receive my very first set of business cards in the mail today from Vistaprint.com and I just couldn't resist sharing the design I chose with everyone. I was really happy to be able to feature the consignment shop in Montavilla where my cards are currently being featured and sold (Dirty Hands Make&Grow) on my business card and give Jenni a little credit over there at her place! After the holidays simmer down I hope to be able to sit down and start following a few more card challenges to start sharpening up my skills..I can't wait to be able to start posting a few of my cards a week for you guys.
But, until then, Merry Christmas and Happy Holdays to everyone :)

Handmade Large Paperbag Scrapbook album

This will be the first of many creative posts regarding cards or handmade crafts. Please forgive me if it takes a little time for me to get on a regular flow of posting, but eventually I want to have consistant posts of my card challenges and crafty creations! Thanks for peeking!!

I was able to complete my paperbag album in time for Akil's birthday and seeing his smile made this challenge all worth it! He is such an incredible little boy and I've never seen a child his age appreciate the world the way he does.

The front cover of the book sticks to a nuetral theme featuring a faux-wood binding, chocolate and cream ribbon and handpainted wood letters.
Here is the first page on the inside of the book. The Airshow;

My favorite parts are my 3-D paint swirls and handmade 'award ribbon'

Some of the pages feature pockets for little pull out pages. This one has a Lego land pull out because it was a part of Akil's visit to the airshow.

This was what we called The Mommy and Me page, and Bonneville Fish Hatchery page. I love the bright colors of the fish.

Here is a hand drawn, hand colored sunshine I cut out for the page..

I love the picture of the boys peeking over the bridge and how the little fish stickers coordinate with the colors of the stripes on the page.

This is Akil's inside play page where he dresses up, does silly things, plays with cars and trucks and is always using his imagination! This page speaks for itself, but I'm in Love with the dumptruck..

And to go along with that, here is the outdoor play page, of course! This was an important year because Akil learned to ride his bike without training wheels before his fourth birthday! Lots going on here!

Working on this scrapbook took a lot of time, lots of Akil's Mommy's money, and more glue than you would imagine! This is our OMSI page and Science Experiment page.

Love the pictures of Akil just eating food and being silly this summer! Another important page is swim lessons because it was his first year and he gained many accomplishments. This page also features a pullout booklet of all the swim certificates from class!

This is the squirt gun page. I love the flow of the pictures and the aged effect of the lettering..

Akil played at the waterfront and show off his sass this summer! I used soft blues and browns and little hints of water drops.

One of my personal favorite pages..the Arcade page; Akil went to Bullwinkle's, Pietros. Chuck E. Cheese and other fun arcades this summer. This page features Akil on a handmade 'zipline' to replicate what he played on at Bullwinkle's! (shown in up position)

(shown in down position)

The back of the book is Akil's handprint and some buttons that I snipped the back off of and glued down. I love giving a gift that lasts and that makes people smile again and again.

I am currently taking orders for small 'lunchsack' versions of this paperbag album. 3 Bags(about nine inner pages)- 25$ and all premade and ready for your photos and tags for journaling!
