Happy Birthday Shara!

This is a birthday card that I made for my friend Shara! I used her favorite color..green, in different tones. I loved this swirly paper and it matches the color of her gift* perfectly! ☺
I used an assortment of buttons tied with different thread and some twine, pearls and small silver embellishments, with a little silver button holding up the peek-a-boo swirly's and pearls underneath. I hand stamped happy birthday and layered it onto green papers.
In this photo you can see that I hand cut a swirl from the patterned paper and layered it on top of a light green paper stamped with white and green swirly dots. (Another favorite of Shara's)

Hope she enjoys it and know I'm thinking of her always‼
*post photos of her gift later (after march 5th)

another card for sketch 103 at Cardpatterns

As usual I had a difficult time with the sketch. That's why I go to them though, they always challenge me to configure cards in new ways. I thought I had done well enough in the last post with my bright Recollections card, but the ideas just wouldn't stop pouring- so I had to make another!

This time I started with a white base for my card and distressed the edges with pastel pink then gold ink. I used some swirly pink paper that I had in my scrap pile and top it with three It's A Girl stamped circles. I distressed the edges of the circles with gold stamping ink as well. For the smaller circles in the sketch I used large pearls that I found at Joann's last week in the dollar bin!

Thank you again CardPatterns for a sketch that pushes me past my limits and really makes me think creatively! I <3 you guys!!  http://www.cardpatterns.blogspot.com/

Here is this week's sketch:
And my spin on the sketch:

Updated photo*
I used Recollections Indian Summer patterned paper. I started with a kraft base and trimmed it out with the Recollections spirit symbols paper, layered in an espresso brown to help the other colors pop and then used Recollections Great Plains as the circle elements. I used my Inkessentials Glossy Accents and 3D foam dots to give the smaller circles dimension. Hope you enjoy.
And Happy Birthday CardPatterns! Congratulations..I Love your blog!!

Random drawing winner! I received an incredible prize and I wanted to share it with you! I thought it would tie in perfectly over at the theme challenge on Cucpake Craft's blog. Check them out here http://cupcakecraftchallenges.blogspot.com/
All the papers are double sided and SO rich looking. I couldn't resist using some of the pieces to put together a valentines card for my honey <3
Not only did I receive beautiful papers, but some lovely stickers, thickers, buttons and decorative ribbon :)
*post my honey's vday card later!
Here is the cover of my honey's valentine card! I used all my new Union Square collection except the small reddish-brown button which is Basic Grey. I really love the aged, almost Moulin Rouge look of the card. It made him smile..so that's what counts :)

CPS card sketch challenge post

Card Positioning Systems blog always has that perfect, simple little sketch to turn to when you've turn out of ideas. Follow them here http://cardpositioningsystems.blogspot.com/
As usual this week, the didn't fail me and I fell in love with the sketch.

I used a cheery yellow and soft reds, Glossy accents to border the papers, red and yellow flower embellishments, swirl stamps that I highlighted with black 3D puffy paint and finished it with the word 'love.' I love the contrast of the black against the softer colors.

Cardpatterns and Cupcake craft challenge post

This week I followed along at http://cardpatterns.blogspot.com/2011/02/sketch-101.html, where we we're given a sketch that, I must admit, was quite challenging for me. I also followed along at http://cupcakecraftchallenges.blogspot.com/ and they are having a theme challenge..'Seeing Red.'

Here is Cardpattern's Sketch:
And my take on the sketch, obviously red was my color theme :) I was nervous at first to use the printed kraft paper, but I love how it ties everything together and I love the little rhinestones on each of the flowers next to the wording. I used diamond rhinestones to finish it off.
Perfect for Valentines day to show the one you love how special they are...

Happy Birthday Leticia!

My best friend from High school and Middle school turns 25 on Valentines day!
What better way to show her I've been thinking of her than with a little birthday/Valentine's card!?
I used Kraft, powder blue and red papers to accent..click for the a larger image of the detail..
Cream ribbon, chipboard letters, stamped sentiment in red ink. Inside has cupcakes and hearts stamped.
I love her so much and I hope she loves the card I made her!
